Laser treatment for acne
NLite Laser Collagen Replenishment System from ICN Pharmaceuticals
In the framework of scar therapy, a patient with active acne of the face was treated with the NLite laser. The check-up after three weeks showed a dramatic improvement in the patient's acne. Almost all the inflammation had disappeared, while the deeper nodules were still palpable but pain-free. It is assumed in the medical profession worldwide that, although no damage is caused to the cells, the short application of heat to the skin with the help of the laser is enough to stimulate collagen production and thus kill the acne bacterium.
The results of a study now being carried out in Los Angeles show an average improvement in acne scarring of 50 percent following NLite therapy. It should be stressed once again that laser treatment with the NLite laser causes no damage to the skin and that the therapy is pain-free. In the individual case, a slight reddening of the skin may persist for a few hours, but that can be concealed at once with make-up.
