Correcting the changes the eyelid undergoes over the years is not something that can be done with the help of one standard procedure for all cases. Every eyelid is different.?In most cases it is not enough simply to remove a strip of skin. Tightening the muscle, removing excess fatty tissue from the eye socket, correcting the eyebrow, treating the mid-forehead or lifting the brow area in order to eliminate the typical floppy eyelid look are just a few of several possible combinations that need to be matched to the requirements of the individual patient. That is why eyelid surgery should be left to a specialist.
In the case of the lower eyelid, the surgeon can work from the inside of the lid and thus avoid visible scarring. It is also possible not just to correct the eyelid droop but also to tighten the whole of the midface so as to remove unaesthetic bags under the eyes.
Eyelid surgery can be defined as minor surgery to maximum effect. Treatment is performed under local anaesthetic on an out-patient basis.
Instead of the scalpel, Dr. Hasenöhrl uses a laser. The fine laser beam permits greater precision and faster procedures with shorter recovery times.
